October 2006 was a turning point in my life. I was in the process of going through a divorce, when I met Mike Nadason. He introduced me to cycling and triathlon. I had never been an athletic person, but as I watched him race in a triathlon, I thought to myself “I can do this”. I started riding a bicycle in May 2007 and completed my first triathlon in May 2008. I went into my first triathlon with the goal of just finishing, and not finishing last. I ended up finishing 8th in my age group out of 16. From then on, I was hooked on the sport. I completed my next triathlon in October 2008 and finished 4th in my age group. I hope that my success will teach my children that you are never too old to learn something new and that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
I am excited to be a part of the team this year. I am looking forward to improving my triathlon skills with the help of my teammates. My goal for this year is to continually improve my finishing time with every race. I also want to complete The Longhorn ½ Ironman in Austin, TX in October of 2009. My long term goal is to complete a full Ironman by the age of 45.
